Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Homeschool Trellis collects and uses information. We do not sell personal information, run advertising, or use nonessential analytics cookies.

Information collected

Parent name and email, family and child names or usernames, grade level, schedules, assignments, completion records, grades, learning logs, settings, feedback, authentication records, five minimal first-use milestone dates (signup, first child, first work, first kid sign-in, and first checkoff), and limited security/usage events.

How it is used

To provide private family features, authenticate users, send requested operational email, provide support, prevent abuse, back up data, and understand aggregate feature use.

Who can see my family's information?

Parent and child accounts each see information appropriate to their role. A parent can see the whole family's plans and records. A child's own sign-in shows only that child's schedule, records, and progress, never a sibling's. It can only check off, undo, or time that child's own work. A device linked to one child, or a device a parent has locked with Lock For Kid Use, is restricted the same way. It only ever shows that one child and cannot see or touch a sibling's information at all.

Other Trellis families cannot see this family's grades, courses, schedules, learning logs, or documents. Every family's information is kept separate by the family it belongs to.

Ryan, who operates Trellis through Isanti Analytics LLC, is currently the sole administrator of the system. The owner dashboard he uses day to day shows account metadata, including the five first-use milestones, and aggregate activity. That means counts and usage totals, not ordinary educational content like a family's assignments or grades. He can access stored information, including a family's content, when it's necessary for support, security, backups, or running the service. We are stating this plainly rather than suggesting administrative access is technically impossible; it isn't, here or with any hosted service.

When you send a message or files through Curriculum Help, Ryan reads them to build the plan you requested.

Infrastructure providers process limited information required to run those functions, under the retention and security measures described below. Those providers are our hosting provider, transactional email service, error-monitoring service, and encrypted backup storage.

Trellis does not automatically send your records to your school, school district, a state education agency, or another family. Any compliance letter or form Trellis helps you prepare is for you to send yourself.

Trellis does not sell your family's information, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI.

Service providers

Hosting, transactional email, error monitoring, and encrypted backup providers process limited data for us under their service terms. Error monitoring is configured not to send request bodies, emails, cookies, or family identifiers.

Retention and choices

Account content and the five first-use milestones are kept while the account is active and are deleted with the account. Ordinary planning and record items that a parent deletes remain in the family's private Recycle Bin for up to 7 days. They are kept so the parent can restore them. Deleting a child or the family account also deletes those retained items rather than making the identity recoverable. Each milestone contains only the family account id, milestone name, and first date. There is never a child or user id, session id, name, assignment title, or individual navigation trail. Detailed usage events are retained for 90 days. Local and encrypted daily backups rotate after approximately 30 days. Parents may export data or request access, correction, consent revocation, or deletion by contacting support.

Security

We use HTTPS, access controls, hashed passwords, owner multi-factor authentication, encrypted backups, and monitoring. No online service can promise absolute security.
