Grades, Logs, and Year-End Records

The Gradebook, report cards, Learning Records, reading hours, and the printable year view.

Trellis's promise is that record-keeping does itself: every checked-off lesson becomes a Learning Records entry, and every graded score feeds the gradebook. Your job is just to tell it what counts.

Step 1: choose what counts toward grades

Not everything should be graded; copywork isn't a quiz. Trellis calls this choice Graded? in the Gradebook's All Assignments table and Include in grades on assignment forms and in the Calendar drawer. Work counts only when that choice is on:

Step 2: enter scores

The Gradebook's Score Work tab lists graded work still waiting for points. Type Pts Possible and Pts Earned and the percent and letter appear instantly. Click Not graded if that one shouldn't count after all.

The Gradebook summarizes one child's overall average, scoring progress, missing scores, included assignments, subject results, and the family's grading scale.

Reading the gradebook

The Overview tab shows the overall average, scoring progress, missing-score count, how many assignments are included in grades, and per-subject cards with letter grades. Work without a date appears in a separate Not Scheduled Yet notice when there is any. Filter by child, school year, and Term (semesters or quarters). The letter grades follow your own scale; edit it in the Default Grading Scale card in Settings.

The Report Card tab builds a printable card per child and term. It shows each subject's graded work, average, and letter grade, with a spot for your own Parent notes. Click Print Report Card and use your browser's "Save as PDF" to file it.

Learning Records write themselves

Every completed assignment automatically becomes an entry in Learning Records, grouped by subject with its estimated hours. Add the rest by hand:

Learning Records organizes one child's completed work by subject and provides filters, yearly totals, and forms for adding learning or reading entries.

The year, on one page

Open Family › Year at a Glance for a printable month-by-month grid. It shows days with work planned, time off, school-day counts, and per-subject totals for the whole year. When the state, a co-op, or an evaluator asks what your year looked like, click Print PDF and it's done.
