New Mexico homeschool graduation requirements, diploma, and transcript

New Mexico does not issue a state-recognized diploma to homeschool graduates; a parent-issued diploma has no official state recognition. Public colleges cannot require an equivalency credential if the student submits qualifying test scores.

The public-school credit table, for reference
New Mexico's public-school diploma requires 24 credits. A homeschool is not held to it. It is shown as the reference a transcript is commonly read against. A recruited athlete also registers with the NCAA Eligibility Center, which grades home-school core courses against its own worksheet, separate from this table.

Assessments in the public-school rules: No state-required demonstration of competency for diploma (removed by HB171 in 2024); students still take required ESSA/Title I assessments, which are not a graduation gate. These exams bind public-school students; a homeschooled student is not required to take them.

New Mexico State University publishes no subject-by-subject course list. NMSU's linked page publishes no unit table; it lists a 2.75 GPA for NMSU in a cross-institution table. NMSU's page shows a 2.75 GPA line and no course units, class-rank or test-score alternatives; the units this row once carried were unsourced and are gone.
